Education

Flying has its possibilities in the Rochester region. Rochester is a great place to learn to fly. We have the convenience of the close-in and full service Greater Rochester International Airport and training airspace close to the airport. Artisan Flying Club — A small flying club of Rochester area pilots. New members are welcome, especially current or prospective flight students. Artisan Flying Club is incorporated in New York State as a not-for-profit corporation. Members, through the club, own (4) four well equipped IFR certified Piper aircraft and emphasize aviation safety, education and participation.

All planes are based at Rochester International Airport (KROC) in individual T-hangars. As a tower-controlled airport, KROC is well suited to the capabilities of the club's aircraft. 76% of current Artisan members hold Instrument Ratings. Most members joined before they earned their advanced ratings. Some members joined as student pilots.

Rochester Air Center is the largest flight school located at the Rochester airport. With a fleet of fourteen aircraft, they also offer aircraft rental. Rochester Flying Club is a not-for-profit flying club with a three-aircraft fleet, based at the Greater Rochester International Airport. All three aircraft are well equipped and maintained, and IFR certified.

Members can use club aircraft for flight training, local flights, or long distance flying. Other: Airdale Flying Club is a non-profit flying club located at the Genesee County airport in Batavia, NY. The club operates three Cessna aircraft. Regional The National Soaring Museum is one hundred miles south of Rochester, in Elmira, NY.
