Genesee-Jefferson is a neighborhood adjacent to Plymouth Exchange and the 19th Ward, sharing a busy border with all three at Brooks Landing. It is often called the Southwest Neighborhood, or SWAN for short, after its active neighborhood association. It is primarily residential but includes Joseph C. Wilson Magnet High School within its borders.
It should be noted that, while PLEX and the 19th Ward are often unfairly stigmatized, Genesee-Jefferson faces real issues with blight, poverty, and crime. Brooks Landing is pretty safe, but caution should be exercised the further north you go.
