HSBC Bank USA (the US division of HSBC) is a bank that had many branches in the Rochester area, mostly former locations of Buffalo-based Marine Midland (which was acquired and rebranded by HSBC in the 1980s and 1990s). In early 2012 HSBC exited the Western NY retail banking market; most HSBC branches in the Rochester area became First Niagara while 11 branches were sold and converted to KeyBank.
