Greece Residents Assisting Stray Pets

Health

Greece Residents Assisting Stray Pets ("G.R.A.S.P.") is a non-profit organization that provides rescue care and adoption services for animals, as well as working to increase public awareness of issues related to responsible pet ownership. It is entirely funded by donations from the public. The website lists numerous volunteer opportunities, as well as any animals that are currently available for adoption.

History G.R.A.S.P. began informally in the early- to mid-1990s as a collaboration between two employees at an animal hospital affiliated with Greece Animal Control, who attempted to find homes for the unclaimed animals they encountered at their job. The informal group grew in membership, and eventually became an official non-profit animal rescue organization in February 1996, with five volunteers.

As of July 2008, the organization has approximately sixty volunteers participating in their efforts, and holds frequent adoption events at Petco in Greece.
