House of Poon

Food & Drink

House of Poon was a Chinese restaurant in Brighton with a funny name and dragons in front. It had dishes from all regions of China, which the menu explained, but mainly stayed within the boundaries of traditional American-Chinese food. It seems to have been built during the golden days when Chinese food was exotic, probably during the 50's or 60's. On December 24, 2008, the restaurant was heavily damaged by fire.

Jay Leno once featured the House of Poon on The Tonight Show after someone submitted only a picture of the front of the restaurant with its name clearly visible. He featured it again during the first episode of The Jay Leno Show on September 14, 2009.
