Description
Irondequoit is a diverse, inner-ring suburb directly north of the city, hugging the western shore of Irondequoit Bay and offering access to Lake Ontario. It's one of the more affordable suburbs while still being very close to downtown Rochester — most commutes are under 15 minutes. The town has a strong park system, including Durand Eastman Park (with beaches and hiking), Seabreeze Amusement Park (a beloved local institution since 1879), and multiple bay-access points. Irondequoit Bay is popular for fishing, kayaking, and ice fishing in winter. Housing is predominantly mid-century with a mix of ranches, capes, and colonials. Median prices are among the lowest of the popular suburbs, typically in the $175K–$250K range. West Irondequoit and East Irondequoit have separate school districts. Irondequoit is a great fit for buyers who want proximity to the city, water access, and a lower price point.
