Maple Sugar & Syrup are outstanding products of the greater Rochester area. There is a bit of maple farmed in Monroe County; however, the surrounding woodland counties of Genesee, Livingston, Ontario, Orleans, and Wayne have major stands of maple trees, often called "sugar bush".
Maple Weekend Each spring many of our local farms participate in New York State's Maple Weekend, a two day open-house where the goal is to "share the real taste of the mouth-watering maple syrup with the public while also demonstrating the various ways to make it. Whether it’s simply boiling the sap over an open fire or running it through some highly scientific equipment, great taste is always the final product."
