- Description
- NOTA — the Neighborhood of the Arts — runs along University Avenue and nearby streets east of downtown. It grew around industrial buildings later converted to studios, galleries, and performance spaces. The Memorial Art Gallery (1913) and the Little Theatre (1929) anchor generations of visual art, film, and live culture. Village Gate and the ARTwalk route tie the district together. For relocators, NOTA pairs walkable nightlife with proximity to the East End and Park Avenue — and it is the city neighborhood most associated with Rochester's identity as an arts town.
