Chi Gung/Definition

Chi Gung, Chi Kung, or QiGong (Pronounced "Chee Gung") is an alternative medicine. The word comes from the Chinese words "Qi" meaning "Energy" plus "Gong", meaning "work" or "practice". 1 It is a term that describes a Martial-Art related Chinese Exercise system the focuses on cultivating and attracting “Chi”, "Qi" or "lifeforce" energies and is a unique Chinese exercise system. Through individual effort, practitioners build up their health and prevent illness by combining discipline of mind, body and the body's “Chi” or "Qi" (vital force). This practice includes "regulating the body" through posture, "regulating the mind" through quiet, relaxation and concentration of one's mental activity," regulating the breath", self-massage and movement of the limbs. Chinese Chi Gung has been practiced with a recorded history of over 2,000 years. Some divide Chi Gung into "Medical", "Martial", or "Spiritual" categories depending on the purpose of the practice. Within China, qigong is generally practiced in two major categories, "still" and "moving". "Still" qigong lays emphasis on quiet, motionless meditation, generally employing methods of internal concentration and regulation of breathing. It is often known as internal qigong. "Moving" qigong involves movement of the limbs and body under the conscious direction of the mind, and since the movement is expressed externally, it is also known as external qigong. Eastridge High School

Eastridge High School is part of the East Irondequoit Central School District. Located on East Ridge Road, near Interstate 590, a Wegmans and a Regal Movie Theater, it was once known for having the highest suspension rate in Monroe County. This is less of an issue today, as it employs a number of security guards, particularly after a series of bomb threats in 2002. Its football team had a reputation for weak performance, but the team bucked this trend in 2003, when they won Section 4 Divisionals. The Music Department, currently headed by Mr. Hoffman, Mr. Facklam (as of 2003) and Mr. Messmer, has preformed very well in state wide marching band competitions, and continues its drive for excellence. Eastridge uses the Illinois Math Program instead of the New York State Standard; when the graduating class of 2003 went to take entry exams to colleges inside NYS, many of them had to retake classes. This issue is as of yet unresolved. Eastridge Musicals are extremely well done and were recognized in RBTL's (Rochester Broadway Theater League) stars of tomorrow in which in 2006 their show Crazy For You recieved 7 nominations including Outstanding Musical and Most recently in 2007 Thoroughly Modern Millie which recieved 6 nominations including outstanding Musical.

Foxy's

Foxy's is a topless club pretty far off the beaten path. Dancing starts at 4 p.m. Fridays and 5 p.m. the remainder of the week. There is a $5 cover after 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The kitchen is open Monday-Saturday, and the food is both edible and reasonably priced. When the kitchen is closed, a couple of area pizza joints seem more than happy to deliver. The clubs marketing slogan in radio ads for many years was "Where girls from your neighborhood strip."
